Acupuncture for weight loss-Docshealth.com

Acupuncture for weight loss; Popular

Acupuncture for weight loss is one of the more popular natural methods of losing weight. Acupuncture for weight loss is effective in making it easier to lose and maintain that loss, if the client is willing to change their lifestyle, considering the fact that, overeating is, many times, a result of increased stress levels, frustrations and anxiety. We know that acupuncture needles inserted into specific points on the body and in the ear stimulate the release of the hormone endorphin, which has a calming and relaxing effect, this makes it easier to deal with stress, frustration and anxiety. Anxiety can trigger overeating on fattening foods. Endorphins also affect the digestive and hormonal systems. Acupuncture can help rebalance the organ systems that are running too slow, in metabolizing and therefore influences a person’s will power.

Acupuncture for weight loss; How

A practitioner will choose points of treatment on the body, depending on the client’s diagnosed problem. The needles are then inserted in these particular points. Once inserted the needles stay in place for about 30-45 minutes per session, heat, or low electric waves may or may not be applied, then they are removed.

Acupuncture for weight loss; Acupuncturist

The acupuncturist will need to find the correct points for you. You will first need to go in for a consultation to discuss your particular pattern of overeating. Let the practitioner know if there are any real digestive difficulties, painful areas, gas-release, etc. The acupuncturist will check your pulse to find out what your energy is like in different areas. In particular he/she will measure the health of your stomach energy. They will look at your tongue for yellow or thick white coating that might indicate troublesome heat or coldness in the stomach, or check your tongue for peeling, cracks, or thickness in the stomach area.

Acupuncture for weight loss; How often and how long

How many acupuncture treatments are needed depends on the client's goals for losing weight, and how fast they want to loose. If the overeating is severe, and they want to loose fast, a treatment every day for the first seven working days is appropriate. Then slow down, to every two days for two weeks. Then twice every three days, twice every four etc till the goal is accomplished. For the average client who wants to lose between five to ten pounds, one treatment twice a week until they reach their goal is appropriate, and then a follow up treatment once every two weeks is optimal. After a few follow up treatments, the practitioner can aim for approximately four times a year at the change of seasons when energy levels are unstable.
