Physical therapy and fitness therapy both dedicate time to supporting the physical health of individuals. Both start with an analysis of a client's physical condition, both devise a plan to help a person reach specific improvements, a better state of health, or wellness goals, and both perform a principle of service to others. Where do these two therapies differ, and when might one enlist the service of one over the other?

The last 2 are usually not found with fitness therapy, and physical therapists usually do not do preventive and personal growth or any of the natural health fields.

Clients typically go for fitness therapy, for one on one help to develop an exercise and fitness program that serves a particular goal or set of goals, such as weight loss, athletic conditioning, strength training or cardiovascular or other health.
