Hypnosis DefinitionIs an induced or altered state of the mind\consciousness brought on either by yourself or by others. Unlike the normal state of being awake or sleeping, it is a heightened degree of suggestibility and concentration (in rare cases it could even mean a trancelike manipulation of the mind) either way the person is oblivious to all else, and responds readily to the commands of the hypnotist (or self with self suggestions). It might be used to treat a variety of psychological and psychophysiological disorders, such as hysteria, hysterical blindness, paralysis. It is widely used for addictions, such as smoking, and drug use, and for phobias, such as the fear of flying. It is used for reduction of bleeding in hemophiliacs, stabilization of blood sugar in diabetics, reduction in the severity of attacks of hay fever, and asthma, increased breast size, the cure of warts, the production of skin blisters and bruises, and control of the reaction to allergies such as poison ivy, and certain foods. It is used in the control, whether the perception of or reduction of pain, headaches, joint pains, and more.
