Relaxing massage

Schedule now, your phone consultation with a Doctor of Naturopathy (ND). Click this link, to find out why.

Relaxing massage; What is it used for?

A relaxing massage can help you unwind, but that's not all. A relaxing massage can relieve tension in your muscles, and most people use it for relaxation, relief of stress and anxiety, or to reduce muscle soreness. Relaxing massage can also cause your body to release natural painkillers, and it may boost your immune system. Relaxing massage can give you a sense of calmness, peace, balance and a sense of being able to cope again. This benefits both your emotional well-being and your overall health. These benefits don't end when your relaxing massage session ends. Relaxing massage can help you through your day and your own body can then improve certain medical conditions. If stress has you anxious, tense and worried, consider trying a relaxing massage. Spending even just 30 minutes in a relaxing massage can restore calm and inner peace. A relaxing massage produces a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. This process results in enhanced physical and emotional well-being. For many conditions and injuries, relaxing massage may be a means to help you feel more relaxed and less anxious and to reduce pain. It's one of several useful tools for managing your health.

Relaxing massage; Therapist should request the client to relax.

The therapist should ask if the person is in a comfortable position. The person should try to be comfortable so that they can get the most out of your relaxing massage. They should close their eyes. Relaxing their attention is what helps free their mind from the many distractions that cause stress and worry. Imagining being at a relaxed place like the beach, or thinking about feeling energy flow through the area being rubbed, or as mentioned next thinking about relaxed breathing. Do not worry when your mind wanders. Just return to your focus of relaxation, or let your mind just totally drift into a relaxed sleep.

Relaxing massage; Therapist should request the client to use relaxed breathing.

The therapist should ask to focus on relaxed breathing. The purpose is to slow your breathing, take in more oxygen, and reduce the movement of whole upper body. In order to learn how to relax and cope with stress, migraines, headaches, and overall tension, you need to become familiar with your own breathing patterns and change them in ways that will help you relax. Emotions may often disrupt your breathing. If you’re breathing is short and hurried, slow it down by taking long, slow breaths. Inhale slowly then exhale slowly. People who are anxious tend to hold their breath and speak in a high-pitched voice as they exhale. On the other hand, people who are depressed tend to sigh and speak in a low-pitched voice as they exhale. Relax let go of these feelings. Imagine a spot just below your stomach. Breathe into it, filling your abdomen with air, from the abdomen upward. Then let it out from top to bottom. Dream of something good. Try to block out worries and distracting thoughts.

Relaxing massage; Therapist should request the client to use imagination / visualization

Combine slowed breathing with your imagination. Picture relaxation, like a river flowing into you, entering your body and tension flowing out, leaving your body. Breathe deeply, but in a natural rhythm. Visualize your breath coming into your nostrils, as the fragrance of flowers, going into your lungs and expanding your chest and abdomen. Then, visualize your breath going out the same way, as a mist blowing away. Mentally scan your body. Notice some painful area in your body, or other areas that feel tense or cramped. Now imagine the Almighty’s hand hovering over the area and slowly wiping it away. Now imagine the Almighty saying; ‘Let go of things you cannot control”. “I am making you healthy, vital, and strong”. “There is nothing in the world I cannot handle”. “I’m  meeting all your needs”.” You are completely and utterly safe’. “In every way you are getting stronger, second by second”. Now recall a pleasant thought. Take another deep breath and exhale slowly. You should feel relaxed. The patient will be so relaxed that they will fall asleep with no prompting, if left alone for a few minutes.
