Spinal surgery can be an effective procedure for pain and symptoms relief from a variety of conditions. Unfortunately, like most medical procedures, not every surgery is successful. Even when the procedure is completed without complications, the patient may not receive the pain or symptoms resolution due to other underlying conditions. There are patients who can benefit from revision spinal surgery to fix issues from a previous operation. DOCS Health offers cervical, thoracic and lumbar revision spine surgery at our medical center in Los Angeles, CA.

Cervical Revision Surgery

Cervical spine surgery is usually performed to relieve pressure on nerve roots or the spinal cord from herniated discs, spinal stenosis or other conditions. If a cervical laminectomy, discectomy or other spinal surgery is ineffective at relieving symptoms, a secondary surgery may be required. This can be due to worsening issues in the spine, scar tissue or other complications.

Thoracic Revision Surgery

The thoracic spine contains the most vertebrae of any section of the spine – 12 – but it is the portion of the spine that is least likely to need spine surgery. However, thoracic decompression surgery, discectomy or laminectomy may be recommended for patients with chronic pain. If the surgery does not relieve the symptoms or new symptoms appear after the surgery, thoracic revision spinal surgery could offer relief.

Lumbar Revision Surgery

The lumbar spine is a common area for surgical procedures due to damage to the vertebrae and spinal discs from wear, tear, injury and degenerative disease. When a transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion, microdiscectomy, laminotomy or other lumbar spine surgery is unsuccessful at relieving pain or radiculopathy symptoms, revision surgery may be the solution.

Our neuro-spine surgeon surgeons at DOCS Health have extensive experience in diagnosing spinal pain conditions and determining the best treatment option. If you have had a previous cervical, thoracic or lumbar spine surgery that was unsuccessful at relieving your symptoms, come see our spinal specialists. We help explore your treatment options, including revision spinal surgery at our state-of-the-art medical center in Beverly Hills, CA.
