Custom Foot Orthotics
Footwear and orthotic support can have a significant impact on your balance, comfort and performance when standing, walking, running and jumping. In some cases, custom-made orthotics can be used for foot treatment, as well as help with other physical conditions. Our foot orthopedic doctors at DOCS Health in Los Angeles offer custom foot orthotics for treatment of a variety of foot disorders and health issues.
Custom-made foot orthotics are designed specifically for the patient to provide enhanced comfort or as a therapeutic device. The devices or inserts are made to support the exact contours of your feet, as each person’s foot shape and physical issues are different. There are two main types of custom foot orthotics: functional and accommodative. Functional orthotics are used to manage abnormal motion of the foot, while accommodative orthotics are used to improve comfort and support.
Are You a Good Candidate for Customized Orthotics?
A wide variety of health and foot conditions can benefit from the use of customized orthotics. Infants with intoeing, or “pigeon toes,” may need customized orthotics to straighten their feet as they learn to walk. Those with diabetes or other issues may have ulcers or sores on their feet that make walking or standing painful, and accommodative custom orthotics can provide support to relieve pain. Some of the conditions treated with custom foot orthotics include:
- Foot injuries
- Shin splints
- Tendonitis
- Plantar fasciitis
- Bursitis
- Heel or foot pain
- Foot deformities
If you have a foot injury or disorder, custom foot orthotics could be a useful tool to manage pain or for therapeutic treatment. To learn more, schedule an appointment with one of our foot orthopedic doctors at DOCS Health in Los Angeles.
