Peripheral Nerve Surgery
As part of our minimally invasive spinal surgeries, Peripheral Nerve Surgery performed at DOCS Health:
- Carpal Tunnel Decompression
- The median nerve can become compressed within the carpal tunnel which is located at the wrist. Symptoms include numbness, tingling or weakness in the hand. When significant symptoms develop, the median nerve can be decompressed by incising the ligament that forms the roof of the carpal tunnel.
- Cubital Tunnel Decompression
- The ulnar nerve is most commonly compressed in the cubital tunnel which is located at the elbow joint. Commonly referred to as the “funny bone,” compression of the ulnar nerve at the cubital tunnel can cause numbness, tingling, or weakness in the hand. Decompression of the nerve requires making an incision at the level of the elbow. Sometimes, a transposition of the ulnar nerve (moving the nerve out of the cubital tunnel) is required.
